Discovery Marine (DML) has two new hydrographic surveyors who have joined the team just in time to mobilise the vessel for the Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) HS70 Banks Peninsula Survey.
Kate Downes and Hayes Ballantyne relocated from Palmerston North to Tauranga last month and have quickly settled into the office routine. Both Kate and Hayes graduated from the University of Otago’s School of Surveying in 2015 and immediately went offshore to gain experience and to see the world. Back in New Zealand they now have the opportunity to participate in the LINZ hydrographic surveys of Banks Peninsula, Stewart Island and Bluff over the next 6 months. This will provide them with plenty of opportunity to regain their Australasian Hydrographic Survey Certification Panel (AHSCP) Level 2 accreditations which were interrupted by COVID19.
Welcome aboard Kate and Hayes, its time to get your feet wet!
