Celebrating Reuben Syme: Recipient of the DML Mount Maunganui College Year 13 Earth, Environment and Spatial Sciences Scholarship

DML is proud to support the next generation of hydrospatial professionals through the Mount Maunganui College Year 13 Earth, Environment and Spatial Sciences Scholarship. This year, we are pleased to award the scholarship to Reuben Syme (center of photo purple shirt), whose strong academic record, teamwork, and passion for the field made him a standout candidate. The DML team  got a chance to meet with Ruben and show him around a working survey vessel during recent port call in Tauranga. We were all impressed by his dedication to his studies and his clear ambition to pursue a Bachelor of Surveying from the University of Otago and a career in surveying — an industry that plays a vital role in understanding and shaping our environment.

This scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated excellence and diligence in subjects related to Earth, Environmental, and Spatial Sciences. At DML, we believe in fostering future talent by encouraging recipients to expand their knowledge and skills through further education, training, and hands-on experience. We congratulate Reuben on this achievement and look forward to seeing his journey as he pursues a career in surveying.
