The team at DML is proud to support the next generation of hydrographic surveyors, and this year, we are delighted to have awarded the University of Otago, DML Hydrographic Scholarship to Georgia Pendred. Georgia will complete a hydrographic research project in her final year of her Bachelor of Surveying with Honours (BSurv(Hons)), examining the role of hydrographic data in establishing habitat boundaries and marine reserves. This project combines her passion for the marine environment with cutting-edge technology to map and understand our oceans.
Georgia recently joined DML for a 5-week internship where she worked with our team on a number of hydrographic projects. In the short time she spent with us, she clearly demonstrated her academic excellence and hands-on practical hydrographic expertise making her a deserving recipient of this scholarship.
Beyond hydrographic surveying, Georgia is deeply involved in community and environmental initiatives. When she’s not studying or volunteering, she enjoys hiking, running, dancing and embracing a sustainable lifestyle. Georgia’s dedication to both hydrographic surveying and her community embodies the values of the DML Hydrographic Scholarship, and we look forward to seeing her future contributions to hydrography and beyond.
